Dear reader,
So many Happy’s this month!
Happy National Scrapbook Day! Happy Mother’s Day! Happy 2nd Birthday, FontWerks! Happy Birthday, Laura!
Hard to believe I hosted a launch crop for FontWerks 2 years ago on National Scrapbook Day. I delivered my very first wholesale order that day, and had it sell out almost immediately. Now, 2 years later, we have distributors and wholesalers all across the world, and continue to keep growing. Now as with any growing company we have some growing pains and we are continuing to address/fix issues, and thank our loyal customers for everything as we soldier on. As a thank you, we are having a SALE! 25% off all rubberstamps until May 10. AND – as a special incentive, we have chosen 5 special 5 minute segments until May 10, where orders placed during those 5 minutes will be FREE!! The people will receive extra product up to the cost of their initial order! Free extra product is always fun, and we at FontWerks love fun! Speaking about fun, how fun was the daily birthday bash hosted by each of the design team members? Thank you to everyone who played, and watch our blogs for some additional announcements and winners coming up!
What’s more fun than a holiday for Scrapbookers? They really should make it a day off work. But, since it’s on a Saturday (May6), let’s take the opportunity to have a little scrapping time, and enjoy this hobby of ours, shall we? I will be teaching classes at a local store Precious Memories in Langley, and design team member MG Abuzman will be playing hostess at the fete over at www.twopeasinabucket.com – all day online crops, challenges and classes. You won’t want to miss that! No matter what you do, here’s wishing you a very happy NSD!
Our friend and team member Rachel Ludwig had her second child, Arden Jolie recently, and we thought it would be special to welcome Arden to our little extended family, and we also wanted to celebrate Mother’s Day and the whole theme of motherhood. We created some cards for Arden and layouts about our mothers (ok, in Becky’s case, about her pink-wearing fiancé). Check out their work here.
This month our Friend of FontWerks is May Flaum from California. I met May at CHA, and got a chance to spend some time chatting and looking through her portfolio. What immediately jumped out at me was all the altered items she had created. So I asked her to focus on creating some altered items for this month’s column, and did she deliver! I know May teaches classes, so please check out her blog for her class schedules.
Last month I attended a retreated hosted by www.pickofthepatch.com, and had the joy of just sitting and playing with paper and glue. Also got to teach a few make-and-takes, sit in and heckle Kate Teague and Tia Bennett in their classes (played scrap-parazzi), and watched and laughed at all the hilarity that took place during the crops. Thank you to POTP for a most enjoyable weekend.
Lastly, if you have not heard about Women for Women International, head over to www.karenrussell.typepad.com – she is spearheading a fundraiser where up to May 8, for a dollar, you can win one of over 130 prizes, ranging from layouts from other scrapbookers, to prize packages. I am honored to be one of the scrapbookers involved and FontWerks is also sponsoring a prize package. Women for Women. That is something that should start right here, at home, in our communities, in our circle of friends. Us for us, each other for one another. That support can make such a difference, I know it has, and continues to, make a difference in mind as I lean on the circle of women I have around me, for strength, for laughter, for advice, for friendship, and so on.
Have a happy and most productive month of May!
