Dear reader,

Happy Summer! As I write this, we are about 2 weeks from the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) Summer Show in Chicago. I am so excited to see the rest of the FontWerks girls again, and also to introduce our summer line of papers and stamps! You will notice a big change in our papers, noticeably the fact that they are double sided. Yes – 2 designs for the price of 1. Kate Teague has outdone herself again and has ever so sweetly named the 2 lines after the design team and their respective men. Come by our booth and say “Hey Fellas!” and “Hello Ladies!” and check out them out in real life. There will also be stamps that coordinate with the lines, making it easy to create a design that has repeating and coordinating elements.

Also new to this show will be nine acrylic sets – of all sizes! Fonts, flowers, datestamps, shapes, stars, arrows, oh my! Plus, we are so excited to introduce 30 new woodmounted image stamps – made with the best rubber and oh so versatile. We will also be offering these images as unmounted sets with EZ Mount (already cut and mounted) for kit clubs or stores that want to offer the stamps at a slightly lower rate (without the wood). Check out our “New Products Sneak Peek” section for your first look at the papers and a selection of the stamps.

As with time, comes changes. Tia Bennett is leaving the FontWerks family to join Autumn Leaves, and also we are sad to see her go, we are also so proud of her and happy for her as she starts this new journey. Tia has always been a Friend of FontWerks and will continue to use her products in classes that she teaches. Don’t worry, you will have one more release of Tia stamps this show, as she has designed 2 new sets for us. Also, Elsie Flannigan is going on to bigger things, being the supernova talent that she is. It is a big surprise so I won’t ruin it here. Again, Elsie continues to be a Friend of FontWerks and has promised to keep showing off her FW products wherever she goes! We love you both, Tia and Elsie, and have enjoyed having you work with us – I know we will keep in touch and see each other at the shows and the like.

National Scrapbook Day

New Designers on Board

I’m glad to say that I have an announcement to make about new product designers as well. We have added 5 new product designers to our line up, and without further ado, I’d like to formally and publicly welcome Karen Russell, Yolanda Robinson, Nisa Fiin, Emily Falconbridge and Katie Pertiet to our company.

You will know Karen from the Narratives line at Creative Imaginations, and I am beyond excited to let you know that we will have six new Narratives stamps at the show. Having met Karen at a class at Treasury of Memories, she taught me to love transparencies again, and when she brought up the idea of a Narratives line for FontWerks, it was really an easy decision to say “yes.”

Yolanda is a new talent that I met at a local scrapbooking retreat held by Pick of the Patch. The moment I saw her work I knew she had talent to spare – her layouts are gorgeous and so is her lettering. So I asked her to send me some font samples. You could have knocked me over with a feather when she sent me some designs. They are by far, the best elegant scripty writing I have seen. So pleased to have a sampling of her work for this show – and look out for a lot more coming in the future!

Nisa has her friend Kristina Contes to thank, as Kristina introduced me to her designs. It is a different look and design for FontWerks, but one that I think challenges and makes one think outside of the box. I cannot wait to see how her designs are used. Nisa was also recently inducted into Creating Keepsakes’ Hall of Fame along with our team member Laura!

Emily is a dear soul, she is everything I envision an artist to be. A free soul, unafraid to experiment, and real. Her designs are so “her” and fun! Emily recently joined the Garden Girl Team at Two Peas In A Bucket. She has a set of alphas, a clear image set as well as a couple woodmounted stamps coming out for this show.

Katie is The Artist Who Almost Got Away. I won’t share the long story, but fortunately for me, I recently sent an email to see if one of her designs was available for licensing. I couldn’t believe my lucky stars when she said it was. And you will see this design in clear stamps – one of my favourites from this release. Katie owns www.designerdigitals.com and www.ideabooks4u.com.

Wow! Now, that’s what I call some great additions. Welcome ladies, so glad to have you on board!

I’d also like to say a big congratulations to Laura and Kate for becoming Garden Girls over at 2peas, it is a well-deserved honor and I am so happy and proud of them. Never had a doubt in my mind they would achieve this dream. J

Friends of Fontwerks

Our Friends of FontWerks this month are Michelle Wood and Anita Mundt, both of whom I “met” via their galleries on the web. And in their own very individualized way, their work caught my eye because of the unexpected twists they put on their pages. I love Michelle’s ability to include product of every size, color and variety, yet creating a page that is still clean and focused on the photo. Anita’s color choices and photos attracted me to her gallery, and I love the way she uses different products as well. Thank you both, for sharing your work with us this month! Don't forget to check out this months design team gallery.

This is turning out to be a long newsletter and I am needing to head back to finalizing preparations for the show. Don’t forget to come by our booth #1024 to see our new offerings and to eat some candy and chocolate. We love having visitors in our space and can’t wait to see you there!
